Rajans who participated at the 3rd International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics,Teheran, Iran, have become victorious yet again. Yasith Mathangasinghe, who has participated the competition 3 times on a row, has bagged the special prize for "The Most Creative Solution in Theory". He has produced the most creative solution in the entire competition, in a method that International Olympiad committee has not expected previously. The prize for "The most creative solution" is a precious one, regarding any kind of an International Science Olympiad in the world.
The Astronomical Society of Dharmaraja College has proved their excellence in theory, at many occassions previously, and this could be considered as the apex of their endeavours. It should be noted that 3 out of 5 students who represented the competition were Rajans, and 7 out of 15 students who represented the competiton in all 3 occassions were also Rajans.
Many thanks go to the brothers of the Rajans Old Boys' Union, branch of USA (Dharmaraja Alumini Assocaition of North America) who sponsored the students in a very short notice. Without their involvement, the participation would've been difficult.
Congratulations Yasith, who raised the flag of the mother nation and Dharmaraja College, far away from home, and Shyaminda and Danula, who represented the country at this precious occassion!

ReplyDelete3 Students from Dharmaraja College ( Shyaminda Basnayake, Yasith Mathangasinghe and Danula Godagama ) had participated in the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics held in Tehran, Iran in October 2009. Among those 3 students 2 students ( Shyaminda Basnayake, Yasith Mathanagasinghe ) faced their G.C.E. ( A/L ) examination in 2009 in Biological Science Stream. And we are happy to say those two students have passed their exam and both of them have got selected to the Medical Faculty.Their results as follows;
